"And seek the home of the Hereafter with what Allah has given you, but do not forget your share of the world. And do good as Allah has done good to you. And do not desire corruption in the land. Indeed, Allah does not like corrupters."
(Surah Al-Qasas, 28:77)
This verse from the Holy Quran emphasizes the balance between striving for worldly success and maintaining a focus on the Hereafter. This reflects the principles of productivity, which is interconnected to niyyah (intention) and barakah (blessings) , aspects which we will be going through in this guide.
As tech professionals, balancing demanding careers with personal and spiritual goals can be challenging. With the right strategies, we can boost productivity and achieve barakah (blessings) in our time.
Starting with Intention (Niyyah): Before diving into our work, let’s remind ourselves why we’re doing it, setting goals that reflect our values and seeking Allah’s pleasure in everything we do.
Managing Our Time Wisely: Prioritizing tasks, planning our day with time-blocking, and breaking big projects into smaller steps can help us tackle procrastination effectively.
Using the Right Tools: Leveraging apps like Trello, Notion, or automation tools can save time while keeping us organized and focused.
Building Habits That Add (Blessings) Barakah: Praying on time, starting our day early after Fajr, and taking moments for dhikr help us stay spiritually grounded.
Spending Time with Family and Loved Ones: Making an effort to connect with our family and loved ones strengthens bonds, brings joy, and resonates with the Sunnah of nurturing relationships.
Protecting Our Time: Setting boundaries, delegating tasks when we can, and confidently saying no allows us to avoid burnout and maintain balance.
Reflecting and Adjusting: Taking time each week to review our progress, celebrating small wins, and ensuring our efforts remain consistent with our values and purpose.
Productivity is about working with purpose and balance rather than doing a lot or cramming our schedule. May Allah bless our efforts and help us succeed in this life and the next. Aameen!

✨AI in Action at the Great Collab Day
At the Great Collab Day at WOTSO FlexSpace Liverpool on Friday - 17 Jan, the Avicenna team and Applied Intelligence Podcast host Imteaz Ahamed explored AI’s role in organizations, best adoption practices, and its future. Mariam Rehman and Nofil Khan emphasized that AI integration goes beyond technology, requiring education, policy support, and regulatory changes. Businesses should first assess their data and objectives before adopting AI. While 2025 will bring rapid advancements, large-scale transformations like agentic AI will take longer. As a practical step, Nofil Khan said to learn and try basic tools. He recommended Claude.ai over ChatGPT.

OpenAI Adds "Tasks" to ChatGPT and Launches Operator AI Agent
OpenAI has introduced the "tasks" feature for ChatGPT, allowing paid users to set reminders and recurring tasks. This beta feature can send notifications, such as location-based plans or daily updates, moving closer to autonomous AI capabilities. It is currently available to ChatGPT Plus, Team, and Pro users, with plans for wider access.
Operator, a new AI agent from OpenAI, is designed to perform web-based tasks by interacting with browsers. Using the Computer-Using Agent (CUA) model, GPT-4's vision, and reinforcement learning, it handles actions like typing and clicking. This enables it to complete tasks such as form-filling or grocery ordering efficiently.
Anthropic has introduced its Citations API, a tool that improves the reliability of AI-generated responses by including detailed and verifiable citations. This feature ensures that AI outputs are backed by trustworthy sources, addressing the need for transparency and accuracy. The API is especially valuable in fields like education, research, and content creation, where credible information is essential, making AI systems more dependable and reducing misinformation.
Nvidia's DIGITS is a cutting-edge personal AI supercomputer driven by the powerful GB10 Superchip. Delivering a petaflop of AI performance, it supports local prototyping and deployment of models with up to 200 billion parameters, offering unparalleled capabilities for advanced AI development.
